The Studio

I'm an artist living and working in Northamptonshire. Recently, I graduated from the University of Wales, Newport with a degree in Fine Art & Contemporary Media.

After leaving uni I set out to combine a life-long passion for ancestral history with my art, creating a unique and varied style. Half Scottish and half English, I have spent most of my life searching for my cultural roots, exploring ancient history and mythology. I've always found it a great shame that our own Gaelic, Celtic and Norse identity is downplayed in favour of Greece and Rome. We have such a rich tapestry of our own mythology and I love to explore this primordial past.

Ogma Studios is a collection of personal work exploring my ancestral heritage. Everything on this site is created in my free time as by day I work full time at a local school. My long term aim is to become a teacher while continuing my personal exploration through my art works.

What is Ogma?

Ogma Grian-aineach (of the Sunny Countenance) was one of the Tuatha De Danaan of Irish Mythology and son of The Dagda. He was recognized as the god of eloquence and literature but he was also known as a great warrior. His main skill lay in poetry, and it was he who created the Ogham script. Art is a form of visual poetry and so this name seemed like a natural choice.
